The yarns used in this fabric are made from solution-dyed polymer, meaning that colours are added to the material while still molten. This results in colour being evenly distributed through the fibre cross-section, and not just in the outer layers as in conventional dying, providing fade-proof colours with little or no change over very long periods of time.

The fabric is treated with a fluorocarbon fabric protector which creates a water, oil and soil repellent finish, for quick drying and easy cleaning. A biocide is also added during this application to help prevent mould and mildew. However, both will grow on any fabric soiling, so periodic washing is recommended. This finish will not be affected by proprietary detergents and can be washed at 40°C or dry cleaned, followed by air drying, not tumble drying. A warm ironing treatment is recommended as it enhances the water repellent properties.
